Schaeffler: Toward a climate-neutral supply chain with Makersite
Learn how Schaeffler came one step closer to their target of a climate-neutral supply chain with the help of Makersite.
“Schaeffler will operate on a climate-neutral basis along the entire value-added chain from the year 2040. By teaming up with Makersite, Schaeffler can run ad-hoc automated analyses of environmental impacts from various supply chains in scope, e.g. for use of materials.
Together, we are able to compare different product scenarios from a sustainability perspective.”

Schaeffler reorganize their supply chain, but how do they know they’ve improved performance?
Schaeffler has been a leading global supplier to the automotive and industrial sectors for over 75 years.
To achieve a climate-neutral supply chain by 2040, the company aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its raw materials by 25% by 2030. The challenge is that 90% of the raw materials used to make their electric motors are sourced from China with little to no deep-tier insight into emissions. It’s a common challenge faced by many manufacturers today.
Schaeffler decided to diversify their supply chain by sourcing materials and processes outside of China.
But was this new optimized supply chain contributing to the business goal of NetZero by 2040?
Watch Dr. Stephan Neuschäfer-Rube from Schaeffler explain how they worked with Makersite to find out.
